Reality production banner Eclipse Television is bolstering its executive ranks, naming veteran non-scripted TV exec Sergio Alfaro as CEO. Demarest Films and Kilburn Media announced in December they had have partnered to launch Eclipse, a full-service independent producer and financier of small-screen content.
Eclipse also has tapped Erica Forstadt as its SVP Development. Forstadt comes to Eclipse from OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, where she served as VP, Programming and Development for over four years. While at OWN, Forstadt acted as creative executive on OWN’s original documentaries and was the executive producer on the Emmy-nominated film Running From Crazy, along with many of OWN’s original reality series.
Alfaro said of his partnership with Demarest and Kilburn, “Our shared vision for Eclipse was simple: a creatively ambitious, highly efficient reality television company offering a full complement of content creation and production services to its studio and network partners. Thanks to our combined resources, we are also well-positioned to acquire other growing companies in the reality space, and eager to identify promising targets.”
Since its launch, Eclipse has helped to produce two network series (one for OWN and one for Audience Network), as well as two live specials for DirecTV.
Demarest Films, co-founded by Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson, and Kilburn Media, headed by Mark C. Manuel and Ted O’Neal, previously partnered on films (Machete Kills, Byzantium), on an international television distribution venture (Canada’s The Fremantle Company) and in scripted television, with the December 2014 launch of a scripted shingle also under the Eclipse banner. Englebardt and Manuel will serve as Co-Chairmen to Alfaro’s CEO.
